1. Hey guys! First gig in a year, eh? How was it?
Not exactly in an year but brutal experience. There’s nothing more metal than live music. We want as many gigs as possible.
2. For the people who couldn’t come to the gig – what songs did you guys play and which got the best reception?
Laid to Rest, Anomaly, The Faded Line , Black Harvest and Heavy Lies the Crown. I think everyone went nuts during Faded Line.
3. You guys had your songs played on some American Radio some months back, how were you guys recieved?
The feedback was very encouraging. We’d like to promote our music in every metal forum we can find. Without becoming a media whore, of course.
4. I read the article about your upcoming album on Stampedes Inc, the one that Aneeq Zaman wrote. Is any release date finalized? Who’s gonna distribute the album?
We’re working on the album. We all have universities and jobs to handle so no release dates as yet. We’ll keep you posted.
5. How do you think the year 2008 was for underground metal in Pakistan? Do you guys think that progress was made or did we fall back a couple notches?
Never thought about it really. We’ve been recording and looking for gigs like bloodhounds. Definitely hoping to play more gigs this year.
6. Reclamation, the band you played with today, got on CNN a few days ago. Do you think something like that can help promote metal gigs and stuff in Pakistan?
Reclamation was great at the gig. They play some of our favourite music. Horns up. I don’t know about CNN. A news channel has little to do with metal. I think if we get proper album releases and then gigs showcasing original music, that will get the metal scene going more than anything.
7. Who’s the best headbanger in the band? (obligatory funny question)
Jimi.No dispute about that.
8. Our time’s runnin’ out, so got anything to say?
Awesome support from all the metalheads at Royal Rodale. Was blown away. Keep it coming motherfuckers! m/
Thanks to Zeesh for doin’ the interview with Nabeel. Good luck to Communal Grave with their album, and hope they raise even more hell in their next gig m/
I would have wanted a video interview with the entire band but couldnt get it done at the gig-
maybe next time

cool interview
more gigs this year–> Im doubtful about that, a metal gig is hard to organize, not many listeners or awareness about it.
Sure they called you in at royal rodale but they put so many @#$ conditions, sell this many tickets and then put you in the end–> i give the organizer that since the public would have ran out :p
Most of the crowd was itself of metal heads. The best part was the organizer coming up and asking some fans; so are you are rock heads?!.. i ask you..
Lol @ Zkage.
Yes metal gigs are difficult to organize. But since this gig things are looking a bit optimistic. Lets see…there were more than atleast 52 people that had come to see the metal bands in the gig! Although we would still need an audience of around 150 to breakeven the cost of organising a concert and to achieve that tickets will have to be at a lower price.
Now what I suggest is that rather than depending on these ‘organisers’ the bands should pool in or stuff and organise the concerts themselves (spread out the costs between ourselves so that each one suffers only a small financial loss in case), just like the old days of Zakfests and Rockfests, Messiah and Autopsy Gothic et al.
WE DEFINATELY NEED A METALFEST IN THE SUMMER. This “looking for gigs like bloodhounds” has to stop and matters be taken into our own hands. Opportunities don’t come knocking at your doorstop or your facebook inbox – they will have to be created.
Now 1st step…lets decide a name and setup an annual or bi-annual metalfest.
stay brutal CG 4ev@
Vulcan: Me, Hussam Raza, Shahzore Bhatty and this organizer from Islamabad (Shahab Khan) have been talking about a potential metalfest for the summer. I’ll keep you updated on that.
hey guys just want to say organizing a gig is fucking hard, its easy to bullshit on the net abt pooling resources but it`s a non-fucking-reality i suggest u guys stop giving debates abt the revolution of metal on the net and get your asses on any gig that promotes metal. you have to walk it not just talk it. and i have notices a thing or two in the past years or so that a lot of fuckin ppl just keep on ranting and whining abt metal gigs and how there`s no gigs around but when there is a gig a lot of these motherfuckers don`t show up and then they give stupid lame ass excuses like “rickshaw nahi milraha tha”, “ammi ne ijazat nahi di” etc, we did 2 gigs in 2008 which required no passes whatsoever and these mofos didn`t show up on those gigs as well, so i suggest you guys stop making stupid plans abt some fantasy metal fest and come support metal bands at any upcoming gig, peace. -Jamail Rafi (Communal Grave)
jamail, i am NOT one of those people. Ive missed 2 odyssey gigs, gigs which i didnt even promise to go. Im not one of those interfags who just talk and dont walk, and some can testify to that. The markhor itself was just a random idea of mine and because i BELIEVED it came true with the help of metalseinen and asadullah. But i have experienced a lack of cooperation at times, like when i tried to get a podcast going concerning paki metal in 08. Only saad akhter sent a contribution while the other 2 who promised to help, didnt (wont name em). The prob is that if one guy shows ambition, the other ‘bangers dont really feel the same and just think “chal khair hai”
TOTALLY AGREED WITH JAMAIL! Hassaan he is not blaming you. What jamail said about the lame excuses people come up with is pretty true. But that free rockfest 2008 gig had a pretty big crowd. But most of the time the ticket price happens to be a very good excuse, the f–ckers would rather eat zingers with that money! Pakistani psyche that money is exclusively for ‘eating’ is totally bizarre.
The gig was great but seeing what us in the audience had to go through that torture of 2 hours while incompetent one-man show bands played…..imagining a gig featuring Communal Grave, Reclamation or some other metal band is pure bliss. As I said earlier, gig was awesome anyway.
Btw, speeking of gigs, Hammad Khan once told me that back in the day, there used to be tons of gigs every month. Anyone know why gigs started being less frequent?
Brain drain, mehngai….
