Look Busy Do Nothing – The Morning After, Emotionalogic AND A Mention on Hindustan Times

Look Busy Do Nothing , Karachi’s resident psychedelic rockers, have been out with a new single, The Morning After, for quite some time now. You guy’s need to check it out. It is currently being hosted at Talha Asim’s myspace.

I don’t know if anybody’s been following Look Busy Do Nothing but they are making some serious waves on the gigging circuit and they are fairly popular on the internet as well, as demonstrated by a mention on the Hindustan Times.

The Hindustan Times Mention

The following is a video of the band doing Emotionalogic live. It is all improvisation. It is people like these guys that force you to rethink your opinion on the way things are with the Pakistani Music Scene. I mean these guys are so talented yet the Media is still hung up on Shoaib Malik potentially scoring with Saniya Mirza but then again they are only supposed to appeal to the Burger demographic. :P Yes, the author of the above article was probably toking on some anally regurgitated marijuana while he wrote it. I mean the aftertaste of the realization that the guy screwed up must have been rather distasteful. Nevertheless, this earns an awesome Pakistani band a mention on the most widely read Indian newspaper.

Reckoning Storm – Storm Engine (Free Download)

Reckoning Storm, a Karachi based instrumental outfit headed by Saad Akhtar Ali (of Communal Grave fame), has come out with its third release, Storm Engine. The Communal Grave reference alone might not do justice to the name because Saad’s previously been involved with stuff like Lashkar, Age of Peril etc. that go back a lot further than Communal Grave. Gathering from the little Storm Engine that I managed to preview on the internet, it is definitely gonna be worth your while if you’re into stuff like Animals as Leaders, Exivious, Continuo Renacer, Liquid Tension Experiment etc. The afore mentioned might not paint an accurate picture of the way things are with Reckoning Storm because it has a difficult sound to pin down but you know what I mean. :D Storm Engine embodies superb guitar playing and an awesome atmosphere. I still need to listen to the album. I will follow up with a review shortly but I must admit the Markhor’s been less than promising in terms of reviews since Hassan’s departure.

The album is up for free download on the Official Reckoning Storm Website.
