Zameen (Odyssey SINGLE)

I have not heard the song yet. My internet is being gay again. If my internet was a person, I imagine  it would look something like Perez Hilton or the GAYGOD asshat from Youtube. I am confident the song kicks ass because the band in question is ODYSSEY.

Go ahead and feast your ears;

The Mosh Pit

Alright, guys, there is a show happening up there in Lahore on Sunday and somehow, former Markhor writer, Hassan Umer, is involved. The show features bands such as Odyssey, Takatak, Cranial Nerves, Wreckage etc. among other awesome acts. Now I realize us Pakistanis have been conditioned to take “good news” with a pinch of salt and getting to see all these bands under one roof, it is not hard to see why some of you would be skeptical. Fuck that. This is real. Be there or bust a nut to some Bollywood (I will do the latter).

skehlaaj – Komi Taraanay (Updated With the LINK)

00 front

I don’t know about you guys but I am fairly convinced that Guitarist Paki, a community on Orkut, hosts some of the best musicians the Pakistan Underground has to offer. To give you an idea, luminaries such as Taureg Tariq (Cauldron Born/Downfall Humanity/Pakistani Metal Foundry), Talha Asim Wynne (//orangenoise/LBDN) etc. can be found lurking there. :P skehlaaj (Saeed Rehman) is a Quetta-based artist who also has his beginnings in the said community. It sounds to me like a cross between Hell on Earth, Rob Zombie, Rammstein and some hard rock. Go ahead and check skehlaaj out.

Air Liner – Open Krounotic

Chances are, you don’t know about Air Liner. I wouldn’t too if it weren’t for Taimur Mazhar Sheikh who showed me this awesome band. I know I cannot paint the exact picture so I am not going to try too hard to describe what Open Krounotic sounds like. Maybe Tim Hecker, Collapse Under The Empire and Susumu Hirasawa had unnatural sex and the end-result is the multi-cephalic monstrosity that is Air Liner. “Avant-garde” should point you in the right direction. You don’t need to be a fan of experimental music to enjoy this. Great music!
