Beneath the Covers – Poker Face (cover)

So I guess the local metal scene has caught on to the concept of parody covers of famous pop songs. There’s this band called Beneath the Covers  specializing in this niche, and they just put out their 2nd single, a cover of Lady Gaga’s Poker Face.

Also, in case you guys didn’t already know, they covered Abrar Ul Haq’s Billo De Ghar a while back too which you can check out at this youtube link.

The Green Scene Carnival

What initially appeared like another generic Lahore *cough* ‘underground’ concert seems to have potential as a good psuedo-metal gig, considering that most of the bands performing are metal. Bands playing include Takatak, Dementia, Project Berklee, V8, Eleventh Commandment, ACMS, Preaching Hypocrites, Dionysus and Foreskin. Has some rock bands and some solo performers but if you’re in Lahore I’d reccomend you drop by at the Green Scene carnival because it’s not every day 7 metal bands get to play at a ‘normal’ gig here in Lahore.  Anyway, the gig is on the 25th and you can get all the details at the event page on Facebook.

Communal Grave – new vocalist and album update

So I was browsing Facebook and randomly came across this piece of news from the Communal Grave page, 2 weeks old but somehow hardly anyone caught it.

“1 year has passed since we performed live and with the passing year comes some bad news, Moiz Khan has Departed the band as our vocalist on good terms and we wish him all the best!! Best of Luck Bro!! Fowad Khan is our new vocalist and we feel worthy to have his presence in our band. The Album’s vocal recordings will be completed now and finally we will release our album in late 2010 or early 2011 on my own Record Label *Disease Free Nation Records*. till then cheers!”

Don’t know what to think of this, I think Moiz had a unique growl that served their originals ‘Anomaly’, ‘Black Harvest’ and ‘Blinded by Deceit’ well. Regardless, I’m looking forward to the upcoming album and am interested in how their own record label fares, let’s hope it kicks ass.
