Brutal Pokhara’s online asian metal compilation released

Nepal based metal promoters BRUTAL POKHARA have finally released their long awaited online compilation. Spanning a number of countries and a ton of great bands, this is definitely the best and most comprehensive Asian Metal compilation ever. I’m extremely honored to have played a part (albiet small) in this compilation, having reccomended all the Pakistani bands you’d see here. Speaking of which, this compilation features Myosis, Marg, Downfall Humanity, Odyssey, ReVolt, Takatak, Dionysus, Project Berklee and Dementia.

Brutal Pokhara E-Zine (featuring Downfall Humanity and Dementia)

So a bunch of Nepal based dudes put out this killer e-zine that’s over like a 100 pages, features internationally known ASIAN underground metal bands Fastkill, Nervecell, Rudra and whatnot. What’s really cool is that they have an article by Eleventh Commandment guitarist Usman Zahid as well as interviews of Pindi based Downfall Humanity and Lahori crowd favorites Dementia. This is a really cool initiative to unite the growing Asian metal scene and us at the Markhor are with it ALL THE WAY.

Project Berklee Interview

A couple months back, 2 kids from Lahore going by the name ‘Project Berklee’ released one of the best Pakistani Metal tracks of not just this year, but simply one of the best released from our country regardless of genre, year and other limitations. This mammoth track was called ‘The Malice’ and was produced by Raza Ali (Dementia) and Ahmed Waqar (Odyssey) – and if you haven’t heard it yet you can either do mankind a favor and kill yourself or click this link here and do yourself a favor. But enough with the introduction, here’s the long-overdue interview. (Questions answered by both Asad Farooq and Umair Nadeem)

The Green Scene Carnival


What initially appeared like another generic Lahore *cough* ‘underground’ concert seems to have potential as a good psuedo-metal gig, considering that most of the bands performing are metal. Bands playing include Takatak, Dementia, Project Berklee, V8, Eleventh Commandment, ACMS, Preaching Hypocrites, Dionysus and Foreskin. Has some rock bands and some solo performers but if you’re in Lahore I’d reccomend you drop by at the Green Scene carnival because it’s not every day 7 metal bands get to play at a ‘normal’ gig here in Lahore.  Anyway, the gig is on the 25th and you can get all the details at the event page on Facebook.

Project Berklee – The Malice

Lahore based guitar prodigy Umair Nadeem and mercenary drummer Asad Farooq (currently also playing for Lahori groove/thrashers Dementia) have just put out their first single ‘The Malice’ which will also feature on Death Revolution Record’s compilation ‘Metallic Infestation – Outbreak #1′. Ahmed Waqar (Odyssey) features on bass and this was produced by none other than Raza Ali (Dementia) himself. Check this out, this is some truly amazing stuff from 2 very young musicians. Total support.
